The Story of The Batik Boutique

When Ryan and Amy Blair first moved to Malaysia in 2007, they did not imagine that within a few years they would start a successful business that would help the needy and inspire others.  Ryan had just began his Master's in business while Amy worked in tourism.  As they explored business possibilities, they knew God had moved them across the world for something bigger than themselves.

In early 2009, Ryan and Amy met Abigail who lived in nearby government housing.   Abigail's husband left her several years ago to raise their two children alone.  In learning her story and struggles, the Blairs were convinced they could do something to help her.  As they were brainstorming, Amy discovered that Abigail was not alone- there are many women in similar situations who are struggling to provide, and one thing they have in common is access to sewing machines. And from this realization, the The Batik Boutique was born.

The Batik Boutique makes a difference in people's lives.  To begin with, we employ those who are needy- single moms, and those struggling to make ends meet.  Secondly, a portion of proceeds to go directly to people in need in our community.  In addition, The Batik Boutique actively seeks other practical ways to contribute to the needs around us.
